“Jesus answered, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.”
1.
Acknowledge— Recognize that you have done wrong things. You have said wrong words, and thought wrong ideas.
1 John 1:8 (NCV): “If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
2.
Repent— Realize how awful it is to live without God, doing wrong things. Apologize to God for your sins. Ask God to forgive you for all of your wrongdoing. Determine in your heart, mind and soul to become a better person.
Acts 3:19 (NCV): “So you must change your hearts and lives! Come back to God, and he will forgive your sins.”
3.
Confess—Tell God about the wrong things you have said, done, and thought. Confessing your sins frees you from feeling guilty or judged.
1 John 1:9 (NCV): “But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.”
4.
Forsake— Give up everything you have been involved in that is not loving, kind, just or pleasing to God. Violent video games and T.V. shows, bad behaviors, wrong relationships…ask God to help you leave all of those things behind.
Isaiah 55:7 (NCV): “The wicked should stop doing wrong, and they should stop their evil thoughts. They should return to the Lord so he may have mercy on them.”
5.
Believe— Believe that God sent his only son Jesus to live on earth as a man, die on the cross, and rise again into heaven to save you from your sins.
John 3:16 (NLT): “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
6.
Receive— Invite Christ and his Holy Spirit into your heart to change your life, and to help you do the right thing every day of your life.
John 1:12 (NLT): “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
7.
Baptism— Go get baptized! Go to a church that suits you, and get baptized—submerged in a pool of water by a pastor or church leader. This represents the death, burial and resurrection of your old self, and the new birth of your saved self as a believer in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 3:21 (NLT): “And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 4:4 (NLT): “For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.”
